It’s been a great month or two here in Nérac. We’ve had our fair share of rain, thunderstorms and brilliant sunshine, and the countryside is lush and wildlife abundant!
On the weaving front, my solo show in Leek (UK) went very well, with many visitors and some really lovely emails and messages sent to me. Thank you to everyone who has supported the show and been inspired to get in touch! I’ve updated the Tactile Tectonics page on my website with a few images. I do intend to put them into a pdf, and hopefully that will be done sooner rather than later!
As soon I got back from the UK, I had to weave a few more smaller growth forms as I was accepted into a group exhibition in France, run by Fils et Métiers, who are based in the Dordogne. The exhibition is organised alongside a weavers’ market, which is held every year at Pentecost – this year 19/20/21 May. Both exhibition and market are at the Chateau Varaignes. The exhibition runs until September, so I am hopeful that we can go and visit. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it this year, despite all good intentions….
In other news, I am delighted to announce that Jenny Howard from the UK will be our first weaving intern! She will be joining me in the studio in July and I have a number of things in mind that I would like to work on with her.
I’ve also been busy working on a Virtual Seminar for Complex Weavers Seminars this summer. It’s an exciting new venture, both for Complex Weavers and for me, and hopefully, fingers crossed, the technology will work well and it will be a great success!
I had two delightful students on my 3-Techniques for Texture workshop and we all had a great time. The weather was kind to us and the time whizzed by with lots of sampling done on shibori, overshot and stitched double cloth.
The summer is now beckoning, and festivals are popping up all over the place. I’m offering a 15% reduction for returning students, so if you came on a course at Willowgate (UK) or here, you’ll get a very special deal, and I have a few places left on some of my courses.
Whatever you’re doing, Happy Weaving!!
