The Loom Room is based in its own purpose-built studio integrated into a renovated barn, attached to La Tuilerie, a ‘maison de maitre’, near the historic town of Nérac, SW France.
Situated roughly mid-way between Bordeaux and Toulouse, near the city of Agen, we are in good wine and Armagnac country! Regional delicacies include duck in its many guises, and foie gras plus a local aperitif called Floc de Gascogne. Agen is famed for its prunes and these are often found in savoury dishes as well as desserts, although by no means obligatory!!
We are surrounded by bastide villages (fortified villages), rolling countryside, exquisite hamlets and romantic towns, with Nérac and Condom being the closest.
Flights from the UK to Bordeaux, Bergerac and Toulouse are frequent and reasonable. Travel by Eurostar direct from the UK and Paris is also possible to nearby Agen. Ferries from Plymouth, Poole, and Portsmouth serve the north-west coast ports in France, and also to Santander (Brittany Ferries) as well as the more usual Dover – Calais route. Road travel is easy and fast on the auto-routes for self-drive options.
