Courses Dates 2019
I offer a 5-night, 4-day course from Sunday through to Friday, featuring weaving or colour courses.
Whatever your level of weaving experience – whether total beginner, or already a weaver and wanting to learn a specific technique – I will make a course tailored to you around your abilities and desires. Just email me email@example.com to discuss what you want to do.
The colour course is a non-weaving course exploring how colour works in textiles and is aimed at building up confidence with colour through exercises and some colour theory, looking at nature, art and architecture for examples.
Incorporated into your course are two half-day excursions in the area, visiting selected places of interest and experiencing the food and drink of the Gascon region.
Sunday : arrive in the afternoon, settle in and join us for an evening meal accompanied with local wines, looking over the Val d’Albret, chatting and watching the sun set over the hills.
Full day weaving tuition, with new weavers planning and preparing your first warp, experienced weavers making their warps, and colour students selecting images and isolating colours. Evening – free/social time.
Am – visit a local village, perhaps Vianne with its glass museum, or Moncrabeau with its fashion museum, visiting the beautiful pont de Moulin de Barbaste on the River Baise (pronounced Buy-ise), taking in the chateau at Nérac, shopping and lunch at a local restaurant.
Pm – weaving tuition, getting your warp onto the loom, and for colour students, studying the colour wheel and doing colour studies. Evening – free/social time.
Full day tuition, for new weavers, threading, sleying, and weaving your first piece of cloth. For experienced weavers, experimentation time. For colour students, developing colour sense and daring to face down the colours you dislike. Evening – free/social time (or private weaving time – your choice).
Am – Weavers, completing your fabric, followed by discussion and photo session! Colour students, designing potential projects.
Pm – visiting a chateau for Armagnac, perhaps Chateau de Cassaigne, or tasting wines at Chateau Pellehaut near Condom, exploring Laressingle, a medieval fortified village, or Fourcés, one of the areas Plus Beaux Villages, followed by a walk in and around the beautiful town of Condom of d’Artagnan fame and on the pilgrim route of St Jacques de Compostella, finishing off with a group evening meal in one of Condom’s excellent restaurants.
After a leisurely breakfast, leave by 10.30am.*
