Overview of my weaving courses, lectures & workshops |
|
I am a firm believer in communicating and passing on the knowledge I have learnt from so many wonderful and talented people that I have come into contact with. Once a teacher, always a teacher, I guess. To that end, I offer a series of courses, lectures and workshops, both here at my home, and visiting groups around the country and abroad.

Courses
The residential courses are for all ranges of skills - from total beginner, through intermediate to experienced weaver. They range from long weekends through to one- or two-weeks. All are individually tailored for each participant so that you get the help you specifically want and the support you need to develop your work. All courses are also available on a non-residential basis. The studio is open from 9 am - 9 pm, and teaching hours are from 10 am to 5pm, allowing you time to work on your own in the evenings, or browse through the library of weaving and design books.
The long weekend courses start on Friday with lunch, and finish at Monday lunch, and are specifically aimed at people who want to try something out, whether weaving for the first time in our Taster Breaks, or returning weavers who want to refresh their weaving skills in Refresher Breaks.
One- and two-week courses are for those wanting to get to grips with new techniques learn some basic skills, such as warping, or weave a larger project in a friendly relaxed environment with help at hand. We can include design work and research, such as colour, texture, presentation of ideas etc if you wish. With my considerable design resource material to hand, or bringing your own source material, you can develop ideas through to finished fabric.
I offer a two-week intensive jacquard course which is for those serious about wanting to learn the basics of jacquard weaving. This is for experienced weavers only! |

Lectures
I am very happy to travel to give lectures to groups such as Weaving/Spinning/Dyeing Guilds, WIs, and Embroiderers' Guilds. My presentations are usually face-to-face and include lots of samples to pass round and handle. They can also include a Powerpoint 'slide' display (I bring all my own equipment, apart from a projector screen) if that is better for your group. |

Workshops
I have several workshops that I take to guilds or groups, and also to museums and galleries. These are designed so that they can be adapted for the interests of the group taking the workshop. I also bring samples of my work to show as illustrations. |
